A curious phenomenon: the Onion has been around long enough now that its satirical-news style is an extremely familiar cultural voice; that voice is now so familiar to me, in fact, that I sometimes hear it in the "serious" news items published elsewhere on the web. Example: "Dennis Miller's new show will mix news, comedy, chimp."
